Fruita Campground (Capitol Reef, UT)

Kintla Lake Campground (Glacier, MT)
Thirteen RV-free sites at the end of a long dirt road in Glacier's North Fork, on the shore of a glassy alpine lake. The payoff for the drive is total solitude and grizzly-country wilderness at your tent flap.
Chisos Basin Campground (Big Bend, TX)
Pitched at 5,400 feet in a bowl of rugged peaks, with the famous Window notch framing the desert sunset below. A 4.8 Google rating across 630 reviews makes it the best-loved campground in the system.
Cottonwood Campground (Theodore Roosevelt, ND)
Spacious sites under cottonwoods along the Little Missouri River, where bison wade past morning coffee. The badlands light show at dusk is the quiet sleeper hit of the national park system.
Piñon Flats Campground (Great Sand Dunes, CO)
Every site looks onto 700-foot dunes rolling toward the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Come in late May for the Medano Creek snowmelt surge, when the beach appears at the foot of the dunefield.
Lower Pines Campground (Yosemite, CA)
The Yosemite Valley campground with the views: Half Dome overhead, the Merced River at the back of sites 37 to 39, and Curry Village in walking distance. Reservations vanish within minutes of release.
