South Soho Bar
From the team behind The Tyger, this bodega-sized room on Centre Street fits exactly enough space for a bar, a few booths, and a wall of bottles. Classic riffs on daiquiris and old fashioneds, fancy chicken nuggets, and the feel of a secret clubhouse that hasn't been over-marketed yet.
Milady's
A SoHo dive bar with roots in the 1940s, Milady's was closed in 2014 and revived in 2022 by Clover Club's Julie Reiner, who kept the name and dive-bar soul while upgrading the cocktails to include Apple Martinis, Blue Hawaiians, and Jell-O shots served with no irony. The 160 Prince Street room is smaller than you remember and better than before.
Kabin
Norwegian model and entrepreneur Alexandra Tangen opened this Scandinavian-inspired cocktail bar on Spring Street in 2024, bringing candlelit hygge to SoHo with drinks named The Scream, Free Healthcare, and an Oslo Daiquiri. Danish sourdough with seaweed butter and gin-cured yellowtail round out the menu.
Sloane's
A discreet second-floor bar inside The Manner hotel on Thompson Street, with a waterfall chandelier, jewel-tone rugs, and spherical crystal lamps straight out of a lacquered antique box. The cocktails are $24, properly made, and strong enough that the Infatuation recommends stopping at one.
Foxtail
A mid-century glamour speakeasy on the ground floor of Arlo SoHo, hosting weekly hot jazz and swing bands in a room of floor-to-ceiling windows and vintage cocktails. Private event space for up to 60 guests and a cocktail program designed as a homage to the era when mixing drinks was considered an art form.
La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels
From the team behind the Experimental Cocktail Club, this narrow wine bar on Centre Street is the kind of place where the chicken liver mousse arrives before you've finished deciding. About 25 natural and biodynamic wines by the glass, including some genuinely rare options, and a semi-private room for groups.
Guild Bar
Five seats tucked into an alcove between Roman and Williams Guild's furniture showroom and La Mercerie's dining room, with a signature three-gin, two-vermouth martini served with a sterling silver toothpick. If you love the glass, you can buy the set: the cocktails are designed around the glassware, not the other way around.
Grand Bar
The ground-floor bar of the Soho Grand Hotel has been pulling a stylish Downtown crowd since the hotel opened in 1996, anchored by a gold-polished marble oak bar, 50 rare American whiskeys, and chandelier designs lifted from the New York Public Library. Locally sourced food runs all day; the old-fashioned is the right order.
Broome Street Bar
Open since 1972 and housed in what may be the oldest standing structure in SoHo, dating to 1825, with stained glass panels that survived from its prior life as a German beer hall in the 1880s. For five decades it has been the unpretentious gathering place for the artists, writers, and local characters who built the neighborhood.
Jimmy (ModernHaus Rooftop)
An 18th-floor rooftop atop ModernHaus SoHo with a pool deck, wraparound skyline views, and a crowd that arrives for sunset. The cocktails are classic and the panorama does the heavy lifting.
