A French-inspired cocktail bar in Coolidge Corner from the Paris Creperie family, serving Frenchified classics and inventive originals in a hip, intimate room. The program honors the legacy of legendary Boston cocktail pioneer Brother Cleve.
Darling (Cambridge)
A Chinese-inspired cocktail bar in Central Square built by hospitality veterans Brian Callahan and Zimu Chen, featuring a daily-changing menu that leans into molecular mixology, lacto-fermented garnishes, and clarified milk punch. The reimagined dim sum and cinematic atmosphere make it one of Boston's most distinctive new openings.
Backbar (Somerville)
A hidden Union Square bar tucked down an alley, named by Time Out as one of the top 25 bars in the world and by Boston Magazine as the city's best. Co-owner Sam Treadway has served roughly 700 different clarified milk punches and rotating themed menus that have covered everything from Star Wars to classic literature.
Next Door (East Boston)
A genuine speakeasy in East Boston accessible only with same-day reservation instructions, revealed through an arched wooden door with a peephole and brass knocker. The 19-cocktail menu includes theatrical presentations like a citrus drink served inside a lit lightbulb, complemented by a raw bar and charcuterie program.
Mahaniyom (Brookline)
An award-winning Thai spot in Brookline Village seating just two dozen, in the MICHELIN Guide for its highly original Bangkok-style small plates and creative cocktails. Locals ride the Green Line past Fenway for the family-style menu and handcrafted drinks.
Merai (Brookline)
A Brookline cocktail bar whose name means alcohol in Thai, pairing Thai-inflected drinks with playful bar food in a deliberately unassuming, dive-bar room. Riffs like the Wonka's Ticket and a loaded hot dog earned it a Boston Globe Best of the Best nod.
Parla (North End)
A Prohibition-era speakeasy with an Italian twist on Hanover Street, serving house-made shrubs and riffs on classics in a space that nods to the neighborhood's heritage. The 20-sided die at the bar lets you roll for a surprise cocktail.
Desnuda (South End)
A two-story South End restaurant and listening bar blending Latin and Japanese influences, known as Boston's first dedicated hi-fi listening bar. The cocktail program pairs with a menu of sushi rolls, bao buns, and ceviche while carefully curated vinyl fills the room.
Trina's Starlite Lounge (Somerville)
A beloved retro lounge near Inman Square slinging hot dogs, High Lifes, and seriously good cocktails since 2009. The kitschy, welcoming room pairs Southern-leaning comfort food and weekend brunch with an ambitious drink list, all under the motto hot dogs, high lifes and hugs.
The Wig Shop (Downtown)
A Downtown Crossing cocktail lounge at 27 Temple Place named for the wig shop that once filled the space, built around a relaxed, elevated experience and a world-class champagne list. It earned a spot on North America's 50 Best Bars at #86, with a hidden Bogie's Place steakhouse tucked behind it.
