Burial Beer Co. (South Slope)
Born in a renovated transmission shop in the South Slope in 2013, Burial Beer Co. crafts bold hoppy ales, rich stouts, lagers, and rustic farmhouse and sour ales across 28 taps in a biergarten yard with old cars and shaded seating. Draft Magazine named it 'America's Best IPA' brewer and Paste gave it the number one saison ranking.
Zillicoah Beer (Woodfin)
Asheville's first Woodfin-area brewery, sitting on the eastern bank of the French Broad River just two miles from downtown and named after the Cherokee word for the river. The taproom specializes in open-fermented farmhouse ales and lagers served across 12 rotating taps alongside a rotating cast of food trucks.
Wicked Weed Brewing (Downtown)
Founded in 2012 in a converted downtown Asheville building with a stated obsession with hops and wild, sour fermentation, Wicked Weed built its reputation on complex IPAs and a barrel-aged sour program that drew national attention. Its Funkatorium sour-beer annex remains a must-visit destination for fans of wild-fermented ales.
New Belgium Brewing (West Asheville)
The Asheville outpost of the Fort Collins original, perched on the French Broad River with an expansive riverside patio, extensive tours, and the full Fat Tire and Voodoo Ranger lineup poured alongside experimental releases. The campus is one of the most visited brewery destinations in the Southeast.
Green Man Brewery (South Slope)
One of Asheville's oldest craft breweries, Green Man has been producing British-inspired ales in the South Slope since 1997, anchored by its classic Esb and IPA. The taproom retains an old-school neighborhood pub feel that predates Asheville's craft beer fame.
Highland Brewing (East Asheville)
Asheville's first legal brewery, established in 1994 and now operating out of a large East Asheville campus with mountain views, lawn games, and a full-service taproom and restaurant. Highland pioneered craft brewing in the region and its Gaelic Ale remains one of the most recognizable beers in the Southeast.
Hi-Wire Brewing (South Slope)
A South Slope anchor inspired by the magic of the circus, Hi-Wire produces approachable, well-balanced ales and lagers including its flagship Hi-Wire Lager, beloved for its easy drinkability and clean execution. The big taproom and frequent events make it one of the most social breweries in the Asheville crawl.
Archetype Brewing (West Asheville)
A Belgian-influenced West Asheville taproom on Haywood Road with a cozy plant-filled interior, rooftop deck, and a focus on complex, mindful fermentation alongside wine, cider, and gluten-free options. The courtyard shared with Gan Shan West and Owl Bakery makes it one of the most pleasant multi-hour destinations in the neighborhood.
Wedge Brewing Co. (River Arts District)
A River Arts District institution since 2008, set inside a former industrial building with a sprawling patio overlooking Brewhouse Park and the French Broad River. The lager-forward lineup and laid-back outdoor atmosphere make Wedge one of the most beloved communal gathering spots in all of Asheville.
One World Brewing (Downtown)
