Bo Burnham: Inside
Filmed and performed alone in a Los Angeles guest house over a year of pandemic lockdown, a one-man musical comedy that won three Primetime Emmys and gave the COVID era its defining special. 95% on the Tomatometer and a 93% audience score on more than 1,000 Popcornmeter ratings.
Richard Pryor: Live in Concert
The ur-text of modern stand-up, filmed at the Terrace Theatre in Long Beach in 1979. A 93% audience score across more than 5,000 Popcornmeter ratings, with Paste, Rolling Stone, and Comedy Central all calling it the greatest comedy performance ever recorded.
Bo Burnham: Make Happy
Burnham's 2016 hour took a dig at the entertainment industry through his trademark blend of songs, one-liners, and a closing meta breakdown of the performer-audience contract. A 100% Tomatometer score and a 91% audience score on Popcornmeter, a fan favorite whose reputation has only grown since Inside.
Hannah Gadsby: Nanette
The anti-comedy hour that broke the form, weaving punchlines with raw revelations about gender, sexuality, and trauma. A perfect 100% Tomatometer score, even as it remains one of the most divisive specials in Popcornmeter history.
John Mulaney: The Comeback Kid
Mulaney's first Netflix hour and the special that fixed his persona for a generation, a surgically built set on Catholic school, marriage, and a childhood meeting with Bill Clinton. 100% Tomatometer, 91% Popcornmeter, the breakout that made the modern Mulaney.
John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City
The Emmy-winning hour that cemented Mulaney as the era's premier observational storyteller, peaking with the Officer J.J. Bittenbinder 'Stranger Danger' routine. A 100% Tomatometer score, 90% audience, and one of Netflix comedy's signature performances.
James Acaster: Repertoire
Four interwoven hours sharing one elaborate narrative, the British comic's entire Edinburgh trilogy plus a fourth chapter built like Rogue One. Among the most structurally ambitious specials Netflix has ever released, with an IMDb rating to match.
Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh
Sandler's 2018 return to stand-up after a two-decade movie run, a shaggy musical-storytelling tour that ends with a now-iconic tribute song to Chris Farley. 90% on the Tomatometer with a 91% audience score across more than 500 Popcornmeter ratings.
Mike Birbiglia: The New One
The Broadway-born storytelling hour about Birbiglia's reluctant journey into fatherhood, callbacks deployed with one-man-play precision. 100% Tomatometer and a 91% audience score.
Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King
Minhaj's Peabody-winning debut, a story-driven hour about growing up Indian-American in post-9/11 California that the audience embraced more warmly than the critics. 78% Tomatometer, 85% Popcornmeter, the breakout that launched his Patriot Act run.
