Dixie Chicken (Texas A&M)
Open since June 1974 and now a state and local historic landmark, the Dixie Chicken claims to pour more beer per square foot than any bar in the United States. The adjacent Bottle Cap Alley, paved entirely with decades of discarded caps, is an Aggieland monument.
Bash Riprock's (Texas Tech)
A Texas Tech staple on the Lubbock strip known for its raucous game-day atmosphere, Red Raider memorabilia, and cheap longnecks. The name alone has become shorthand for a certain kind of unfiltered college night out.
Cool Beans (UNT)

Chimy's (Texas Tech)
A Tex-Mex dive bar hybrid near Texas Tech with margaritas that outclass the surroundings and a porch culture that fills on any night worth celebrating. The Lubbock location has spawned further outposts, but the Red Raider original stays truest to the formula.
Lucky Lou's (UNT)
A Denton dive on the periphery of the UNT scene, known for its cheap wells, low-key vibe, and a door policy that prioritizes regulars over the weekend crowd. The kind of bar that rewards knowing about it.
Hole in the Wall (UT Austin)
Austin's oldest continuously operating live music venue, open since 1974 on the Drag across from UT, where Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lucinda Williams, and Nanci Griffith all played early in their careers. The cramped, neon-lit room is as much a piece of Austin music history as any stage on 6th Street.
The Dry Bean Saloon (Texas A&M)
A no-frills College Station dive that has absorbed multiple generations of Aggies in its worn wooden booths, offering cheap beer and a refreshing absence of themed events or manufactured energy. As close to a true neighborhood bar as the A&M strip gets.
Crown & Anchor Pub (UT Austin)
A beloved UT Austin pub with a sprawling outdoor patio and a loyal following among students and faculty alike, known for cold Shiner Bock and live acoustic sets on weekends. The longevity of the crowd loyalty speaks for itself.
Cain & Abel's (UT Austin)
A rooftop bar and patio staple near the UT campus, popular for its cold pitchers and elevated outdoor deck that offers just enough height to feel like a proper destination. Game-day pregames and late-night wind-downs both find a home here.
