Amanpuri (Pansea Beach, Phuket)
The first Aman resort, opened in 1988 on a former coconut grove by Adrian Zecha with architecture by Ed Tuttle drawing from Ayutthayan temple forms, Amanpuri essentially invented the ultra-luxury boutique hotel category. Forty pavilions and 44 private-pool villas on Pansea Beach, with more than 30 Aman properties worldwide tracing their DNA to this one room.
Trisara (Nai Thon, Phuket)
