Lucali (Carroll Gardens)
Mark Iacono rolls dough with a wine bottle by candlelight, and the result is the most romanticized pie in America. Cash only, BYOB, and worth putting your name in at 4:45pm.
Di Fara Pizza (Midwood)
Dom DeMarco's shrine, where the square and round pies still get scissored basil and a pour of olive oil. Decades of pilgrimage have not dulled the legend.
John's of Bleecker Street (Greenwich Village)
Coal-fired since 1929, whole pies only, and wooden booths carved with a century of initials. The thin, charred classic that defines old-school Village pizza.
Lazzara's Pizza (Midtown)
A Garment District mainstay on West 38th Street known for thin, crackery-crusted Sicilian squares and round pies. Dave Portnoy scored it a 9.3, among the highest marks he has given in the city.
L'Industrie Pizzeria (Williamsburg)
The Florence-born owner's slice shop became the city's consensus number one, with burrata-topped squares and a perfect upskirt char. The line down South 2nd is part of the experience now.
Ceres (Nolita)
Two Eleven Madison Park alums bring fine-dining precision to impossibly thin, cracker-crisp sourdough pies on Mott Street. A 9.2 from Dave Portnoy made the lines instant and the whole-pie-only policy necessary.
Mama's Too (Upper West Side)
Frank Tuttolomondo's pepperoni square, cupped and crisped in chili oil, redefined the modern New York slice. The original UWS shop still does it best.
Ops (Bushwick)
Naturally leavened sourdough pies and natural wine in a dim Bushwick room. The crust has the most character of any pizza in the borough.

Anthony Mangieri's lifelong pursuit of the perfect Neapolitan pie, made with a fermented dough he has refined for three decades. Repeatedly ranked the best pizzeria in the country by 50 Top Pizza.
F&F Pizzeria (Carroll Gardens)
Frank Pinello's Carroll Gardens slice shop on Court Street, turning out blistered round pies and crisp grandma squares to a near-constant line. Dave Portnoy gave it an 8.7.
