The full ranking
The companies Americans most love to hate, judged on bad service, junk fees, broken trust, and scandal, not politics. Cable and internet providers, airlines, banks, and insurers dominate.
Comcast (Xfinity)
Comcast's Xfinity is the company Americans most love to hate, twice crowned "Worst Company in America" and a perennial bottom-dweller in customer-satisfaction surveys. Regional monopolies, bills padded with surprise fees, and notoriously painful cancellation calls keep the complaints coming.
Ticketmaster
The Live Nation-owned ticketing giant is loathed for sky-high "service" and "convenience" fees, a near-monopoly on major venues, and the 2022 Taylor Swift on-sale collapse. The U.S. Department of Justice sued to break up Live Nation and Ticketmaster in 2024.
Optimum (Altice)
The Altice-owned cable provider is one of the lowest-rated companies in pay-TV and home internet, with satisfaction scores around 60 and an "F" from the Better Business Bureau. Customers cite outages, billing after cancellation, and no-show technicians.
Frontier Airlines
The ultra-low-cost carrier posts some of the worst customer-satisfaction and on-time numbers in U.S. aviation, an industry-low 65 in the 2025 ACSI. Surprise fees, cramped seats, and stranded-passenger stories make it the most-complained-about airline now that Spirit is gone.
Wells Fargo
The bank's reputation never recovered from its fake-accounts scandal, in which employees opened millions of unauthorized accounts. A decade of follow-on penalties and a Federal Reserve asset cap have kept public trust near rock bottom.
Equifax
The credit bureau exposed the personal data of roughly 147 million Americans in its 2017 breach, then bungled the response by delaying disclosure and steering victims toward paid products. Consumers never chose to do business with it, which sharpens the resentment.
Cox Communications
One of the largest U.S. cable and internet providers, Cox routinely lands on worst-provider lists for high prices, steady rate hikes, and inconsistent service. Consumer Reports' 2025 survey ranked it among the worst for value and support.
UnitedHealth Group
The country's largest health insurer is a lightning rod for anger over denied claims, prior-authorization hurdles, and Optum's outsized grip on care and pharmacy benefits. Public fury at health insurers boiled over in late 2024.
AT&T
The telecom giant draws steady consumer frustration over confusing bills, aggressive upselling, and middling customer service, with below-average satisfaction scores. Back-to-back 2024 data breaches exposed records on tens of millions of customers.
PG&E
California's largest utility became a byword for corporate negligence after its aging equipment ignited deadly wildfires, including the 2018 Camp Fire. It pleaded guilty to dozens of counts of manslaughter and scores near the bottom for utility satisfaction.
