Noble Rice (Channelside, Tampa)
Chef Eric Fralick's modern Japanese dining room off Channelside Drive builds its menu around fish flown in weekly from Tokyo's Toyosu Market, from negi toro rolls and king salmon nigiri to a 15-course Grand Tasting omakase at the sushi bar. Michelin-selected and the parent kitchen of the starred Koya counter, it sits at the center of Tampa's serious sushi scene.
SoHo Sushi (South Tampa, Tampa)
An anchor of South Tampa's dining scene since 2005, installed on W Kennedy Blvd and known throughout the bay for award-winning creative sushi rolls, fresh sashimi, and a full teriyaki and tempura menu. Family-operated with a consistently high standard, it remains the neighborhood's most reliable Japanese kitchen after two decades.
Sunda New Asian (Midtown, Tampa)
A 6,000-square-foot Southeast Asian restaurant in Midtown Tampa blending flavors from Japan, China, the Philippines, and Thailand, with a sushi program built around Wagyu crispy rice, truffle tuna pizza, and the Lobster Wagyu roll. Named 'Best Asian Cuisine' by USA Today and celebrated by Thrillist, it pairs the sushi bar with an extensive sake, Japanese whiskey, and cocktail program.
Kōsen (Tampa Heights, Tampa)
Tampa's Michelin-starred omakase counter on W Palm Avenue, helmed by Executive Chef Andrew Huang, a 23-year veteran of Uchiko Houston and Miami, offering a 20-plus-course experience at 12 seats. The adjacent 25-seat Ko dining room delivers a 10-course tasting menu, and Kosen has held its Michelin star for two consecutive years.
Koya (Hyde Park, Tampa)
A Michelin-starred 8-seat omakase counter by Noble Rice on W Platt Street, where an ever-changing hyper-seasonal tasting menu is built around fish flown weekly from the Toyosu Fish Market in Tokyo. Reservations open on the 15th of each month and book out within hours.
Izakaya Tori (South Tampa, Tampa)
A Japanese tapas bar on S Dale Mabry Hwy serving izakaya-style small plates alongside fresh sushi, sashimi, ramen, and skewers with Japanese craft beers and sake. The walk-in sushi bar and consistently praised omakase-style freshness make it one of the most-reviewed Japanese rooms in Tampa.
Sushi Sho Rexley (Downtown, St. Petersburg)
Chef Rexley Kwok's 10-seat omakase-only counter in downtown St. Pete, sourcing fish directly from the Toyosu Fish Market auction system, where the chef has worked since 1999. Selected by the Michelin Guide, the intimate space offers a choice between a longer signature menu and a tighter focused course.
Kelp Sushi Joint (Palma Ceia, Tampa)
A modern Asian-fusion sushi bar on Bay to Bay Blvd in the Palma Ceia neighborhood offering specialty rolls, poke bowls, fresh salads, and a cocktail and wine bar in an accessible, daily-open format.
