Homer (Beacon Hill)
A buzzy Beacon Hill Mediterranean spot named after a dog, beloved for its pillowy house pita and a condiment-driven menu of wood-fired vegetables and meats. Walk-in only, and worth the wait.
Altura (Capitol Hill)
Chef Nathan Lockwood's intimate Capitol Hill counter serves an Italian-influenced tasting menu of Pacific Northwest ingredients with old-world technique. A long-running special-occasion favorite at 4.6 across platforms.
Shiro's Sushi (Belltown)
The Belltown Edomae institution founded by Seattle's Godfather of Sushi, Shiro Kashiba, now led by chef Masaki Nishioka. Set-course nigiri of pristine quality, and a Time Out top-five pick.
Paju (South Lake Union)
Bill Jeong's sleek South Lake Union Korean room cooks much of its menu over open wood fire, and is a steakhouse in all but name. The squid-ink fried rice with a smoked quail egg is its Instagram star.
Sushi Kashiba (Pike Place)
Shiro Kashiba's Pike Place omakase counter, where the three-time James Beard nominee crafts seasonal Edomae nigiri. The chef's counter is the hottest seat in Seattle sushi.
Canlis (Queen Anne)
The most famous restaurant in Seattle, a 1950 modernist landmark above Lake Union serving Pacific Northwest fine dining with white-glove service. The benchmark special-occasion experience, jacket recommended.
The Pink Door (Pike Place)
A beloved, unmarked Italian-American hideaway off Post Alley with Elliott Bay views, live cabaret, and trapeze acts over the dining room. A decades-old Seattle icon with nearly 7,000 Google reviews.
