Short Road Pizza (Leyton)
Born during lockdown in Leytonstone, Short Road Pizza operates residencies at William the Fourth in Leyton and The Colts in Bethnal Green, serving Romana-meets-NYC thin-crust pies made with freshly milled Shipton Mill flour. In November 2025 it won National Pizza of the Year at the National Pizza Awards and was ranked third best pizza in the world.
Vincenzo's (Shoreditch)
A cult New York-style slice shop on Bethnal Green Road, expanded from Bushey to Shoreditch with a two-floor room of marble floors and vintage photos. The slices feature blackened crisp peaks, airy dough pockets, and an intensely tangy tomato sauce that The Infatuation called 'the real deal.'
Ace Pizza (Victoria Park)
Rachel Jones' first permanent pizzeria at 126 Lauriston Road, evolved from a years-long residency at The Pembury Tavern in Hackney Downs, serving stonebaked London-style pies with 48-hour biga dough alongside Italian-American sides and cocktails that riff on the pizza menu. Time Out called it a 'playful pizza parlour with serious cocktails.'
Dough Hands (Hackney)
Chef Hannah Drye's pub-residency pizza operation, best known at the Spurstowe Arms in Hackney and a new permanent space at All My Friends in Hackney Wick, where London-style pies with crispy bases, charred pillowy crusts, and NYC-leaning toppings are served alongside whole 20-inch pies and by-the-slice for the first time.
Crisp Pizza (Mayfair)
A cult pizza operation since 2014, now installed in a speakeasy basement beneath The Marlborough pub on North Audley Street, serving London-meets-New Haven pies, grandma squares, and paper-thin bar pies. The must-order grandma pie and a top-100 finish at the Best Pizza Awards 2025 cement its reputation as one of Mayfair's most serious pizza rooms.
Alley Cats Pizza (Marylebone)
An NYC-style walk-in pizzeria on Paddington Street with exposed brick, chequered tablecloths, and The Sopranos projected on the wall at night, serving 14-inch thin-crust pies with chewy edges and toppings like vodka sauce or vegan 'nduja and potato. No bookings; queues at peak times are part of the deal.
Bad Boy Pizzeria (Bethnal Green)
The permanent home of Bad Boy Pizza Society on Bethnal Green Road, winner of the National Pizza of the Year at the National Pizza Awards in 2022 and 2024. Crispy 18-inch pies and grab-and-go slices anchor a menu where the 48-hour-fermented dough 'Sausage Party' with fennel sausage and stracciatella is the signature order.
Gracey's (Battersea)
A Battersea pizzeria turning out lavishly topped New York-style slices and whole pies, with mountains of cheese, sauce-blanketed pepperoni cups, and lines down Webbs Road. London's loudest cult pizza moment of 2025.
Breadstall (Soho)
A Soho counter built around naturally leavened Roman-style pizza al taglio, with crisp, focaccia-light crusts and toppings that change daily. The bread is the headline; the pizza is the proof.
Spring Street Pizza (Southwark)
Michelin-starred chef Tom Kemble's NYC-inspired slice shop beneath a Borough Market arch, where 18-inch pizzas built on 48-hour biga dough come out foldable and charred with a clean, modern fit-out that nods to classic Manhattan slice culture. The combination of fine-dining technique and no-fuss format makes it one of the most talked-about pizza openings in recent London memory.
