The full ranking
Two Michelin stars, decades of critical accolades, and a diaspora that has shaped the city's food culture. London is the Indian dining capital of the world outside the subcontinent.
Gymkhana (Mayfair)
The first two-Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in London, drawing on the colonial-era gymkhana clubs of India across two floors of dark wood, rich banquettes, and crimson walls on Albemarle Street. Named National Restaurant of the Year 2014, its largely North Indian menu is celebrated for balance, sophistication, and signature dishes like kid goat methi keema.
Ambassadors Clubhouse (Mayfair)
The UK's first Michelin-starred Punjabi restaurant, opened in 2024 by the JKS Restaurants family on Heddon Street and inspired by the grand party mansions of undivided Punjab. The lavishly furnished room descends after hours into AMBASSY, a dedicated music space hosting Punjabi and global acts.
Amaya (Belgravia)
A Michelin-starred Indian grill at Halkin Arcade with an open tandoor, tawa, and sigri kitchen that has been a Belgravia institution since earning its star in 2006, a year after opening. The theatrical sharing-plate format and smoked chilli lamb chops remain signatures of one of London's most consistent Indian dining rooms.
Benares (Mayfair)
A Michelin-starred Mayfair dining room founded by Atul Kochhar, pairing modern British-Indian cooking with a sophisticated bar. Tasting menus built on seasonal British produce and refined regional spicing.
Jamavar (Mayfair)
A one-Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant from the Leela hotel group, all opulent decor and authentic regional Indian cooking. Tandoor classics and a celebrated tasting menu draw a glamorous crowd.
Quilon (Victoria)
A Michelin-starred South Indian coastal restaurant steps from Buckingham Palace, open since 1999 and focused on the lighter sauces and subtle spicing of the Malabar Coast and Kerala. Head Chef Sriram Aylur's menu of lobster with Goan pickle, char-grilled shrimps, and coconut fish curry has kept Quilon at the top of London's South Indian dining for over two decades.
Trishna (Marylebone)
A Michelin-starred restaurant on Blandford Street devoted to the seafood traditions of India's south-west coastal provinces, particularly Kerala, Cochin, and Mangalore. Signature dishes like soft-shell crab with green chilli chutney and nariyal scallops have made it a perennial Marylebone Village favourite since earning its star in 2012.
Brigadiers (City)
An Indian barbecue restaurant in Bloomberg Arcade inspired by the army mess bars of India, where tandoors, charcoal grills, rotisseries, and wood ovens share space with live sport, poolside cocktails on tap, and card games. Listed in the Michelin Guide, it blends the intensity of live-fire cooking with the sociable camaraderie of a classic Indian club.
Veeraswamy (Regent Street)
Britain's oldest Indian restaurant, open since 1926 and now Michelin-starred, overlooking Regent Street from a jewel-box room of refined, time-tested classics from across the subcontinent.
