Azulik (Tulum Beach)
Forty-eight handcrafted luxury villas built by local artisans without blueprints, rising through the jungle or perching on cliff-top platforms above the sea. There is no electricity in the rooms, no air conditioning, and no artificial lighting: candlelight, ocean air, and a seafront Maya spa designed for disconnection.
La Valise Tulum (Tulum Beach)
An SLH-certified Small Luxury Hotel with 22 suites, half facing the Caribbean and half facing the jungle, each outfitted with handcrafted Mayan furniture, woven reed lamps, and rolling beds that open the room entirely to the outside. Zero Waste certified since 2023, with a natural cenote and Michelin Guide-recognized dining on the property.
La Zebra (South Beach)
A Small Luxury Hotel on the southern end of the hotel zone, La Zebra combines a lively beach club, two pools, and a sports bar with authentic Mexican cooking and some of Tulum's most beloved tacos. The Lula Wellness center runs daily yoga, pilates, breathwork, and ice bath sessions directly on the sand.
Jashita Hotel Tulum (Soliman Bay)
A Relais and Chateaux member on a protected coral-reef bay 15 kilometers north of the main strip, where calm, snorkeling-perfect water and 30 beachfront suites deliver the seclusion that Tulum's busier stretch no longer can. The signature restaurant, rooted in Mexican and Italian coastal cooking with locally grown ingredients, is the property's other defining strength.
Mezzanine (North Beach)
Set within Jaguar Park on the quieter, sunbed-free stretch of North Beach, Mezzanine is best known for an unexpectedly authentic Thai kitchen run under traditional recipes by Thai celebrity chef Dim Geefay, fresh herbs grown on site, and elevated cocktails served on the dining deck above the tree line. Four stylish sister properties have since opened along the strip, but this one remains the original.
Ahau Tulum (Tulum Beach)
An eco-certified yoga retreat where handcrafted artwork and locally sourced architecture meet beachfront ceremony. The 30-foot sculptural entrance piece by South African artist Daniel Popper, named 'Ven A La Luz,' became one of Tulum's most photographed landmarks.
Be Tulum (Tulum Beach)
A 64-suite adults-only property designed by owner-architect Sebastian Sas, with reclaimed-wood furniture, cowhide rugs, and four distinct dining and drinking concepts, including 4 Fuegos, which specializes in ancient open-fire and slow-cook techniques. The beach doubles as a beach club with daybeds and drink service, and the spa complex includes a full hydrotherapy circuit.
Olas Tulum (Tulum Beach)
Mexico's only Platinum LEED-certified property, Olas is an eight-suite eco-boutique at the quieter end of the strip where all food is locally sourced from family farms and all products are organic and biodegradable. Breakfast is cooked to order by a chef trained in Michelin-starred kitchens, and the private beach is strictly non-motorized.
Papaya Playa Project (Tulum Beach)
A Design Hotels member and Conde Nast Traveller Readers' Choice honoree, Papaya Playa preserved 93 percent of the jungle on its land and built its identity around full-moon parties, resident DJ programming, organic beach-club dining, and traditional Temazcal steam ceremonies. The combination of serious nightlife and genuine sustainability made it one of the most imitated concepts in Tulum.
Nomade (Tulum Beach)
One of the first properties in Tulum to offer glamping-style accommodations alongside traditional suites, Nomade built its following on sunrise yoga, ancestral sound ceremonies, curated healing gatherings, and a spa offering traditional Maya therapies at Gon House of Healing. The boho-chic eco aesthetic and music-first ethos established it as the original template for the spiritual resort category in Tulum.
